Fundamentals of Drinking Water Treatment Course & Contact Hour Workshops Grades 1-2 (Days 6-7)

June 8, 2026: Water Sources/Quality Parameters7 Contact Hrs./0.7 CEUs

• This class serves as a condensed overview of drinking water supply sources, some water chemistry and microbiology, and the major parameters of the Safe Drinking Water Act of 1974, 1979 and successive Amendments.

June 9, 2026: Pumps & Motors 7 Contact Hrs./0.7 CEUs

• Students will study the subject of disinfection from a summary of Federal Drinking Water Regulations to Chlorine Safety. Student will learn to identify the properties of chlorine, dosage, demand and residual problems, breakpoint chlorination, disinfection by-products (THM’s), alternative disinfectants together with liquid and gas chlorination
practice problems.

• Operators will examine types of centrifugal pumps, define pump terminology, and interpret hydraulic fundamentals, pump components, cavitation, friction energy losses, net positive suction head, pump curves, safety, trouble shooting, and pumps mathematics.
