SUMMARY:Fundamentals of Drinking Water Treatment Course & Contact Hour Workshops Grades 3-4
DESCRIPTION:7-Day Course June 1 – 9\, 2026 or **5-Day Review June 1 – 5\, 2026 or choose individual days based on your needs. \n**The 5-Day session is intended to be an exam review\, NOT a 36-hour course. If you need a full course of instruction for certification/exam requirements\, please register for the 7-day\ncourse or call the office at 916-640-2114 for more options. \nOctober 15\, 2026: Title 22/EPA Regulations – 7 Contact Hrs./0.7 CEUs \n\nOperators will evaluate MCLs\, record keeping requirements\, operational regulations and personnel legislation.\nOperators will interpret and apply these laws as they relate to all areas of the water industry in California. Students will also review a compilation of the most current regulations issued by Groundwater and Drinking water division of the EPA.\n\nOctober 16\, 2026: Sources: Wells & Surface Water- 7 Contact Hrs./0.7 CEUs \n\nThis class addresses water sources\, the hydrologic cycle\, water supply\, water quality constituents\, ground water\, surface water\, and water quality parameters.\n\nOctober 19-20\, 2026: 2-Day Water Treatment Operations – 14 Contact Hrs./1.4 CEUs \n\nThis class provides a review of all the primary aspects of conventional surface water treatment plant operations in lieu of the Long-Term Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Regulations (Stage 2) and the new Disinfection byproduct regulations for operators grades 1-4. Contained in the conventional filtration section will be specific emphasis on coagulation\, flocculation\, sedimentation and filtration\, including chemical pre and post treatments. Some additional aspects of Advanced Treatment such as membranes\, dissolved air flotation and reverse osmosis are also included with advances in solids contact clarification including ballast sand and similar other operations.\n\nOctober 21-22\, 2026: 2-Day Water Treatment Math\, Gr. 3-4 – 14 Contact Hrs./1.4 CEUs \n\nA scientific calculator is required for this math class.\nThis class is a basic study of process math with an emphasis on the Step-by-step solution method\, process formulas\, conversions\, pounds problems and volume formulas\, dosage/demand/residual\, simple solution problems\, velocity\, filtration\, hydraulics and pump problems. Disinfection and sedimentation problems are taught and practiced in this class.\n\nOctober 23\, 2026: Disinfection of Public Water Supply – 7 Contact Hrs./0.7 CEUs \n\nOperators will describe common waterborne diseases\, E.Coli and fecal coliforms are major indicators of pollution and flag the need for disinfection of our public water supplies. With the mandating of filtration by the SDWA combined with mandatory disinfection\, these are the double-barrier efforts necessary to achieving safe drinking water. The study of chlorination theory and chemistry\, breakpoint chlorination\, dosage/ demand/ residual and dosage levels are valuable at all levels of water knowledge.\n\nClick here for more information \n
